Medical Supplies and Ambulance for Remote Village

The remote village of Vergel Chimal, located in the tropics of the Zona Reina, has a clinic and two nurses (no doctor) and 10 local midwives to serve the medical needs of the Q'eqchi Mayan people living in the 15 nearby villages.  UbF volunteers visited the region and found there are few roads and no electricity or water systems.  The clinic has a solar refrigerator and some medicines but little else.  The nurses are requesting assistance to adequately equip the clinic, and the well trained Mayan midwives need basic supplies for the women in labor.    An ambulance is also needed to transport patients to the nearest hospital, located 6 hours away.  It will require $50,000 for this project.  A donation to UbF will address the need for improved medical resources to this region.
