Handicapped Accessible Van for Orphanage

In many developing countries, it is not uncommon for children with physical and develoment disabilities to be neglected or abandoned if their parents die.  Thankfully, disabled orphans have now found a loving home at Los Gozos in Chimaltenango, Guatemala.  Los Gozos (which in Spanish means "The Joys") has a special place in the heart of Maureen Casey and her cadre of volunteer educators and therapists who care for the children 24 hours a day.  There is also a day school affiliated with Los Gozos which provides education and addresses the special need of any disabled student, whether or not they are orphaned.  A pressing concern is how to get the children to their doctor appointments and to provide for short day-trips outside the confines of the compound's walls.  United by Friendship is asking for your assistance in raising $40,000 to provide a van that would make it possible to better care for these precious children.
