WASHING MACHINE FOR HOSPITAL

Over the years, United by Friendship and the Rotary clubs have been assisting the public hospital in Uspantan, Guatemala with a variety of needs, including repairing its electrical system and obtaining an ultrasound machine, an infant incubator, laboratory equipment, dental equipment, an ambulance and medical supplies.

There was, however, one piece of equipment that especially stood out as needing to be replaced. That was the hospital's antiquated washing machine. It was no longer possible to get the replacement parts for the old washing machine and the hospital was having great difficulty providing clean sheets and other laundry for the hospital. In 2009, the Rotary clubs of New Mexico and West Texas obtained a grant toward the purchase of a new washing machine. The beautiful new machine is loved by all, including the volunteers from prior years who could appreciate the difference that the new machine is making in the health and well being of the hospital.
