BACKUP GENERATOR FOR USPANTAN HOSPITAL

Due to the remote location of Uspantan, the electrical services to region are severely compromised, requiring the hospital to depend heavily on its 25 year-old generator. The hospital lacked the funds to repair the generator and obtain replacement parts, which in turn limited the medical services it was able to provide. In October of 2004 United by Friendship, in cooperation with two Rotary clubs of New Mexico, provided funding for the repair of the generator. This ensured a more stable energy source for the hospital to continue its day-to-day operations.
